In this webinar Dr. Karyn Purvis discusses the struggles that parents sometimes face in bonding with their adopted child . . .

The Christian Alliance for Orphans has been holding a series of helpful webinars offering support to churches who want to make an impact in the lives of vulnerable children. They have graciously granted us permission to post some of these webinars on this website. We appreciate their wonderful spirit of partnership!

In this webinar Dr. Karyn Purvis discusses the struggles that parents sometimes face in bonding with their adopted child when the child demonstrates behaviours that are upsetting, unexpected or unsettling. It is a frank and helpful reminder that adults sometimes struggle in their own attachments. and explores how this may impact our ability to effectively meet our children at their point of need.

In addition to listening to this session, we highly recommend Dr. Purvis’ website Empoweredtoconnect.org for more excellent information on these issues, addressed from a Christian perspective.

Who We Are

Waiting to Belong started as a movement to help the more than 30,000 kids in Canada who are waiting to be adopted. Our goal is to see as many waiting kids as possible be placed into loving, forever families. We work to shape realistic perceptions of adoption and to encourage the body of Christ to come alongside adoptive families in practical, loving ways.
